Welcome South Convening

We are very excited to present the first official convening of the Welcome South coalition in Memphis, TN on the first of April.

Welcome South is dedicated to growing a strong and healthy ecosystem of support for immigrants across the Regional South, and we are ready to invite organizational members from across the region to join in our efforts as coalition members to make this vision a reality.

That’s why we are thrilled to be hosting this event, where we will bring together legal professionals and social service providers who are working for non-profit agencies to discuss our coalition’s goals, hear from experts in the field, score CLE points, and explore different ways that you can get involved. Whether you are a lawyer looking to expand your access to court representation, a nonprofit organization seeking to collaborate with other service providers, or an individual who wants to volunteer, there is a place for you with Welcome South.

The convening will include legal presentations: “A Non-Profit Survival Guide,” “Crimmigration Made Simple,” a roundtable discussion on practicing immigration law as a DOJ Accredited Representative, as well as a listening session on how best to co-counsel and refer through Welcome South. We want this to be an opportunity for everyone doing this work across the region to meet, share best practices and coordinate our efforts. The day will conclude with an event hosted by the Community Legal Center at the Stax Museum.

This event is sponsored by a generous grant from the American Bar Endowment. There is no cost to attend this event and breakfast and lunch will be provided. It will take place at the Buffalo Room in Shelby Farms, 6903 Great View Drive North, Memphis, Tennessee. 38134
